Hotos Lab, Greece-Rotifers-Brachionus plicatilis-Egg &#8220;birth&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The marine rotifer Brachionus plicatilis in its amictic form produces a lot of eggs that after a certain stage of maturation, inside the female&#8217;s body, are expelled in the exterior attached by a stalk to the mother&#8217;s body. This peculiar procedure-that is the transportation from inside to the outside of the mother&#8217;s body-is very rapid and involves a lot of effort from the animal. That&#8217;s why after the &#8220;birth&#8221; the mother seems exhausted.
